AI automation in Derby — our home ground

ElementX2 is built in Derby, for the kind of businesses Derby is made of: the supply chains, workshops, hauliers and service firms working around one of the most serious engineering economies in Britain. This is the one page on this site where “local” means walking distance.

The local picture

Derby’s headline employers are genuinely world-class: Rolls-Royce, Alstom and Toyota Manufacturing UK together account for more than 45,000 skilled jobs. Rolls-Royce alone employs around 13,700 people here across aero engines and submarine power systems, with its Small Modular Reactor programme expected to need a further 4,000 Derby-based engineers. Alstom’s Litchurch Lane works has been building trains for over 140 years; Toyota’s Burnaston plant employs around 2,500. The city’s economy contributes £7.1 billion in gross value added.

Beneath those giants sits our actual market: hundreds of precision engineering shops, logistics firms, recruiters and professional practices that keep the primes supplied and staffed. Their operations run on quotes, certificates, delivery notes and phone calls — and almost none of it is automated.

The standard here is set by the machines the city builds. Software that runs a Derby business should be engineered to the same expectation: deterministic where it matters, auditable throughout, boring in the best way.

Aerospace & rail supply chain

Material certs, conformance documents and works orders flowing between SMEs and primes — precise, repetitive, and ideal for validated AI extraction.

Logistics & haulage

The sector we cut our teeth in: PODs, driver paperwork, recruitment screening and dispatch coordination, all automatable with the systems on this site.

Recruitment & professional services

High-volume candidate and client admin — parsing, screening calls, pipeline reporting — proven in our own workshop builds.

What we’d automate in Derby

Calls handled like a production line

Screening, qualification and confirmation calls run by a voice agent with a deterministic rule engine behind it — built and demonstrated here in Derby on our HGV recruitment system.

Supply-chain paperwork, automated

From delivery notes to conformance certificates: extraction with validation and a tamper-evident audit trail, engineered for firms whose customers audit them.

Every system on one survey

Job boards, Trello, ERPs, spreadsheets and accounts connected so a Derby operation sees its whole pipeline in one place — reporting as a by-product, not a chore.

The practical bit

This is home — the SK 353 363 on every page of this site is Derby’s own grid square. First meetings happen across a table, not a video call, and site visits cost us nothing but the walk.

Every project starts the same way regardless of postcode: an email describing the workflow, a straight answer about whether automation fits, then a scoped survey before any build. How we work →
